PowerUp-NC’s  mission is to bring energy self-reliance to Nevada City and all rural California communities.

Imagine a world powered by the sun, wind, or regenerative sources. Energy sources that do not pollute our air, water or land. Energy that can be provided locally creating viable economies that benefit the masses. Imagine becoming so energy efficient we can reduce our dependency on oil and coal so much so that we can end unnesessary wars and senseless and devastating acts like "mountain top removal." Though this may seem impossible, today there are signs of hope and opportunity that were unfathomable only a few short years ago. All the problems we face today can be tackled with technologies that already exist... and human willpower

Einstein once asserted that problems can’t be solved within the mindset that created them. This truism still applies today as we face these seemingly overwhelming problems. We, as a nation and world, simply need a new mindset: We must begin doing business with a different philosophy, set of rules, standards and goals. We need industry and commerce that use radically less energy and fewer materials. Such an economy will not only provide good stewardship of both the economy and our natural environment, but it will create good jobs for working families.
